“My Voice Makes a Difference”

By Qendra Jonathan

Thanks to the grant won by the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, we had the opportunity to implement for 9 months, March-December 2022, the “My Voice Makes a Difference” project within the Self Advocate Employment Initiative Grant program. The project aims to employ a young woman with Down Syndrome, Selma, in the position of Advocacy & Awareness Officer, who raised her voice for the community with Down Syndrome, helped to promote their potential and increase awareness in public institutions and privately, through speaking and awareness presentations. From this project, 27 sensitization videos were produced, which promoted the role of the intervention center, the latest methods and studies available to families and the community, as well as the strengthening of the self-supporting financing platform for the services the center offers to the community. Below you will watch some of the most beautiful videos of the project made with our Self-Advocate Selma!
